A Vision for Change
Support Orange County’s underserved children at The Second Annual Fundraising Gala hosted by The Southern California College of Optometry on Thursday, September 20th, 2012. The Southern California College of Optometry has announced its premiere event of the season—the Shared Visions Gala and V-Awards to be held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda. This annual fundraiser shines a spotlight on top-tier healthcare education and the delivery of innovative vision care for underserved children. “Good vision is required for learning and our mission is to ensure that every child in Orange County receives vision testing, regardless of financial ability,” stated College President Kevin L. Alexander, O.D., Ph.D.
The fundraising goal for this year’s event is to raise $200,000 for this important healthcare testing. Along with raising money to benefit children’s vision needs, V-Awards will be presented to members of the community for their volunteering and humanitarian efforts. The festivities will commence with an art exhibit with artwork by blind or legally blind artists during the cocktail reception and silent auction at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be held in the East Room of the beautiful Richard Nixon Presidential Library, followed by the V-Award presentation and entertainment by Marleena Coulston Barber, a very talented singer who is legally blind.
Orange County PBS Anchor Maria Hall-Brown will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, while Philanthropists Frances and Steve Knott will serve as the Honorary Chairs. Individual tickets are $250 and sponsorships are available—visit Scco.edu/SharedVisions for more information.
